Joy Behar political joke about Casey Anthony not guilty verdict in Florida funny or not?

[Jul. 9]

Talk show hostess Joy Behar leans to the left politically and she is not afraid to let people know about it. Her water cooler discussion on her own Joy Behar Show always share a hint of wit when she talks about current events, Hollywood celebrities, and political issues. Her latest tweet about the Casey Anthony not guilty verdict was really quite clever and funny in most people’s opinions except for a few who thought she was disrespectful for making light humor about little Kaylee Anthony’s unsolved murder. But Nancy Grace she is not.

The celebrity senior tweeted via @Joy Behar:

I am shocked by the #caseyanthonyverdict. Though I can’t say this is the first time Florida screwed up on an important vote. #HLN.

Casey Anthony was given credit for time served for lying to the police during the investigation of her daughter’s death — but the jury returned “not guilty” verdicts for all the charges that could have sentenced the tot mom to death or life in prison for her role in the mysterious disappearance of her young toddler daughter.

Back in the day, registered Florida voters also goofed when they had troubles voting for the United States president. Green celebrity Al Gore lost the presidential election to George W. Bush thanks to the voting power of Florida constituents.

While Joy Behar might have been glib to connect the dots so soon after the verdict, her thoughts about the social issues at hand related to both moral culpability for using your vote wisely and the apparent lack of ability of sunshine state voters to put the hammer down when it comes time to go against the status quo was perhaps timely.

Should the creation of reasonable doubt have absolved tot mom from her failure to report her daughter missing? That is the pressing social issue of the decade as Americans question if justice was truly served in the case if Anthony really killed her daughter but the prosecution failed to make a compelling argument about the way the little girl was murdered.

While the death of Kaylee Anthony is tragic and the not guilty verdict for Casey Anthony is not amusing, the @joybehar tweet was still a little bit funny. It also was not sensational like the commentary made by Nancy Grace on the Nancy Grace Show. Rather than profiting from the death of the little girl, Behar was simply making commentary from the heart about her personal reaction to a very public event.
