Dancing With The Stars 2011: Rob Kardashian Samba winning over fans? Yes!

Dancing With The Stars is a reality television show with character — and characters. Each season, they support a different charity. They welcome dancers with disabilities. And, they are LGBT friendly (of course). Colorful contestant Rob Kardashian of Keeping Up With The Kardashians emerged as an unlikely crowd favorite after Chas Bono was voted off. Wonder why? Those crazy Kardashian sisters probably never saw this one coming. Their brother Rob Kardashian can dance! He used his assets (as partner Cheryl Burke would say) to delight the studio audience and hopefully win him semi-final round votes from fans on November 14th, 2011 for his live performance on Dancing With The Stars. His bubble butt was no hindrance to him when it came time to do the Samba. The dance earned him his first 10 of the season from judge Carrie Ann Inaba — and nines from the rest.

Saying he really, “took one for the team” doing the Samba, Rob laughed about the booty-shaking routine. He gave a big LGBT friendly nod to the gay community with his rainbow-colored stage set. Even host Tom Bergeron laughed when they referenced Rob’s dance earning the least-earning member of the Kardashian family big points with judge Bruno Tonioli.

Even judge Len Goodman grinned while giving his review of his dance. Noting the mock parade float entrance to the song left he (like Carrie Ann) expecting the worst that Rob Kardashian gave his best.

Watching the dance on video, you can certainly see Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke have had a great time training together during the 2011 season.

The week was challenging for all the remaining contestants — which include Olympic gold medal winner and future hopeful Soccer player contender Solo, dance partner of Maksim?” href=”http://greencelebrity.net/2011/09/29/dancing-with-the-stars-2011-who-is-hope-solo-dance-partner-of-maksim/” target=”_blank”>Hope Solo, actor and military hero JR Martinez, former talk show host Ricki Lake, and Rob Kardashian. Each were expected to learn and memorize the choreography for three dances.

Hope and Maks finally bonded in the past week — making them contenders to beat Rob. However, they do not have the fan base he does (and despite their great Paso Doble, they are expected to be voted off the next round).

JR and Karina botched their first dance of the night due mainly to an ankle sprain injury, reminding folks of their Halloween night Ghostbusters song flop.

Of course, judge’s favorites Derek Hough and Ricki Lake got great scores — so even if the fan votes are not there the way they will be for Rob (who has supporters who watch he and sister Kim Kardashian) and JR (who will have military support), they are still likely to make it to the semi-finals due to their combined judges scores.

But winning the Cha-Cha competition and earning those extra ten points really helped Rob and Cheryl! And, of course, momager Kris Jenner crying in the audience because she was so proud of her son’s performance on the ballroom dance floor won’t stop Keeping Up With The Kardashians fans from phoning in their votes.

Rob Kardashian was only 16 years old when his father died of cancer. His journey on DWTS has been a transformational one. He’s lost weight, he is acting more like a man, and he’s making strides to come out from under the shadow of his famous mother and sisters.

As Carrie Ann says, “When I watch you, I see potential.”

We agree, Rob… and hope that when you emerge from your cocoon, you will shine brighter than a rainbow as a green celebrity.

UPDATE: Rob and Cheryl made the finals! The announcement came during the results show on November 15th.
