Hollywood Life, a popular celebrity gossip website and entertainment news source, is reporting that actor Russell Brand has confirmed he is divorcing pop music singer Katy Perry. If the news is true that he has decided to dump her, he is crazy. She is at the top of her career, gorgeous, sweet, smart, funny, and immensely talented. He, on the other hand, is funny solely because he is quirky and can only boast that he looks disheveled and hairy. Do we like hearing the green celebrity couple happily married? Yes… but mainly because everyone in the world loves Katy Perry.
The rumors have been flying since Christmas that the celebrity couple have been fighting. Since they allegedly had a huge blow out over Christmas, both star celebs have been spotted without their wedding rings. A rumor mills report showed Katy Perry without her wedding ring first, but in all fairness she was swimming at the beach in Hawaii. But Russell Brand, not to be out done, was seen gallivanting around London without his wedding band (seeming like he was trying to flaunt it).
Today, Hollywood Life shared the following celebrity couples update about the estranged lovebirds. They write, “Russell, 36, has filed for divorce after rumors of intense fighting with Katy, 27, TMZ reports. Russell says the split is due to “irreconcilable differences.””
But then they make the next level of a leap in investigation. While their initial report claimed HollywoodLife.com had reached out to their reps they had yet to hear back.
But then they added the following update, saying, “UPDATE: Russell released a statement about the split, saying, “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.””
Gasp.
What do you think about the news Red Cross supporter Katy Perry is being dumped by the quirky actor Russell Brand? If anything, it should be she who calls off her relationship with him. After all, it just takes watching him in the movies Arthur and Get Him To The Greek to figure out that acting like a pompous ass comes naturally to him [which is not a good trait no matter how funny he is].
Let’s hope Katy Perry can put the entire misguided love affair behind her the same way so many women have done with those bad boyfriends or starter husbands they fell in love with in high school or early college if these sad celebrity divorce rumors are true.
Granted, like them, sleeping Russell Brand will always be her private embarrassment but getting out now while she is young and on top of the world will hopefully open her up to meeting more interesting people and finding a more functional relationship. Until then, hopefully she will focus on her music and writing songs that are a mix of catching pop tunes with more soulful lyrics occasionally reflected.
