Steven Tyler engagement good news, Jennifer Lopez divorce and affair bad

American Idol judge Steven Tyler, the frontman for the rock band Aerosmith has officially confirmed rumor mills reports that he is getting married says Entertainment weekly. That’s good news for the reality TV franchise as news that fellow judge Jennifer Lopez, who was rumored to have been signed last year for a grand $12 million per season, was divorcing from her Latin pop music singer husband Marc Anthony shocked both producers and the audience.

Who is Steven TylerSteven Tyler, of Aerosmith, is getting set to marry for a third time, People reports. And yes, he is straight (not gay) despite rumors he swings the other way that got started last year after reports surfaced that he actually enjoys wearing women’s clothing. The 63-year-old rocker and American Idol judge has been dating 38-year-old Erin Brady for about five years, and sources have spotted what appears to be an engagement ring on Brady’s finger after Christmas, prompting suspicion that Tyler officially proposed to his gal pal sometime during the 2011 holiday season.

He confirmed the entertainment news after New Years, but TMZ says they broke the real news he proposed early in the month, saying, “TMZ broke the story … Steven and Erin got engaged on the DL last month — and Steven’s family was pissed they got left out of the loop.” Then, they shared some seriously unflattering pictures of the new fiance topless at the beach (yep — of him, not his fiancee).*shudder*

Why oh why couldn’t they have shared topless pictures of American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez rather than burning out the eyes of their reader audience with blinding white skin bikini beach photos of him!

At any rate, Entertainment Weekly confirmed the official news of his engagement to their readers on January 2nd, 2012, sharing:

Aerosmith frontman and American Idol judge Steven Tyler has confirmed that he is indeed ready to walk (this way) down the aisle again.

Tyler’s rep has confirmed to EW that the erstwhile 63-year-old rocker and father of four will be a groom for the third time when he weds longtime girlfriend Erin Brady, 38. No date has yet been set.

Steven Tyler, father of actress and model Liv Tyler, is a green celebrity known for his support of Robin Hood, which aims to reduce poverty in New York City. The organization solicits donations from hedge fund bigwigs, but does a large part of its work by funneling money to other organizations in an attempt to maximize the effect those dollars can have.

Steven Tyler is proud of his work and being a parent, but he’s not so proud of his partying past, The National Ledger reports. According to the website, Steven Tyler talked to Oprah Winfrey recently and regretted his copious use of drugs and alcohol and is embarrassed and regretful about his womanizing past, as cheating (especially while under the influence) ruined his marriages in the past). They shared quotes from his celebrity interview with Oprah, retelling the following:

He said: “There was some behavior I am ashamed of and I shouldn’t have done, I don’t want to hurt anybody again. For all the divorces I’ve had, I hurt those girls deeply. There was some behavior that I’m ashamed of and I shouldn’t have done.”

But the “Walk This Way” singer is taking a different approach this time around. He said he got a wake-up call from Brady that made him consider how he had treated his former wives, model Cyrinda Foxe and clothes designer Teresa Barrick. He was married to Foxe from 1978 to 1987 and to Barrick from 1988 to 2006.

Tyler has two children with Barrick — 21-year-old Taj and 22-year-old Chelsea . And he has one child with Foxe — 33-year-old Mia. The most famous of his children, actress Liv Tyler, 34, was with a short relationship with model Bebe Buell.

Reps for Steven Tyler refused to comment, but jeweler Loree Rodkin, who long has made Tyler’s custom jewelry, confirmed suspicions by revealing on her Facebook page that she had indeed designed a 5-carat round diamond with a band studded in 1 carat’s worth of diamond chips for the proposal, according to E! Online.

Perhaps one of the things keeping reps silent have to do with some of Tyler’s family not liking Erin Brady much.

TMZ reports:

Sources connected to the Tyler clan tell us … several family members have clashed with Erin Brady for years … and have told friends, “She’s just not nice.”

We hope the rumors aren’t true and that Erin and Steven can enjoy a long and happy marriage. Maybe Erin can tempt the Aerosmith lead man to get involved in some new charities as well.

Among other charitable causes Tyler and Aerosmith have supported, the band recorded a John Lennon song for a CD compilation to help raise money for Amnesty International. We wouldn’t want a Tyler-Brady marriage to cause problems like it did with John Lennon’s relationship with Yoko Ono, to which many attribute the Beatles’ rock band break-up.

The good news Tyler is getting married should help offset some of the bad news that American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez is getting a divorce. The pop diva sold herself as a celebrity wife and devoted mom to the reality TV franchise last year for a grand $12 million per season. Then, shortly thereafter news hit the rumor mills that she was divorcing from her Latin pop music singer husband Marc Anthony. So much for being little miss perfect Latina! She shocked both producers and the audience with the announcement and it has plagued her ever since. While she has a new clothing line at the department store Kohl’s and has been endorsing the eco-friendly new Fiat 500 sales in the United States, her affair with much younger back up dancer Casper Smart (who she flaunts in front of Marc Anthony’s young twins) has not helped people devoted to watching American Idol like her much. Both Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez had donated a lot of money and volunteered a great deal of time supporting humanitarian charities that helped Latinos together as a green celebrity couple.
