Hollywood Gossip!

Former Allie McBeal actress and movie star Lucy Liu pro gay marriage and a red hot green celebrity?

[Apr. 12]

Green celebrity actress Lucy Liu, known for Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003), a co-starring role with Jackie Chan in Shanghai Noon (2000), and one of the trio of crime-fighting foxes in Charlie’s Angels (2000), is speaking out against human trafficking of young women and for the marriage rights of the LGBT community. That’s why Hollywood blogger is giving her props — and giving her free publicity juice as a red hot green celebrity!

Lucy Liu is a UNICEF Ambassador and recently wrote an article for USAID, telling the story of Meena Haseena, who was kidnapped at age nine and sold into slavery. The young girl was raped and beaten for 12 years, says Liu, until she escaped. When the girl contacted police for help, they simply returned her and told her owners to stop beating her, according to Ecorazzi. Lucy Liu is fighting for girls like this.

Lucy Liu writes:

“If girls are in school, they are safer from predators. In school they can understand and learn about their rights and then teach their families and communities. They are the next generation, and can help shape their societies so that gender is not a factor for discrimination and exploitation.”

Lucy Liu also has been speaking out on behalf of the LGBT community, working with Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) New Yorkers for Marriage Equality. PerezHilton.com says:

As a Queen’s native, [Lucy Liu] reminds everyone that New York has always been about “diversity and acceptance”, but we’d like to remind everyone that those are some of the core principles that the United States of America was founded upon!

The green celebrity said in a video she produced for HRC, “I was born in Jackson Heights, Queens. New York has always been about diversity,” as reported by Capital Tonight.

There have been plenty of rumors surrounding Lucy Liu’s own personal identity — is she lesbian or bisexual? But whatever the case, the green celebrity clearly is a powerful advocate for women and for those in the LGBT community. No matter her preferences, she stands up for the human rights of all people of all colors and creeds, of all genders and identities.

Lucy Liu is one of the most well-identified Asian-Americans in the world today, according to LookToTheStars. In addition to her humanitarian support of UNICEF as an Ambassador, the green celebrity has supported charities like Bicycle for a Day and the Entertainment Industry Foundation, for which she was a spokesperson for Lee National Denim Day fundraiser, sponsored by Lee jeans, to raise awareness about women’s cancer programs run by the Entertainment Industry Foundation.

And in addition to her support for LGBT communities and the legalization of marriage for LGBT couples, she donates proceeds from her art show both directly to UNICEF and through Whatever It Takes, an artwork campaign by 21st Century Leaders.

Whether you love this feisty green celebrity (who is also a martial arts expert) for her humanitarian causes, green living lifestyle, or her LGBT community support, Lucy Liu is a true green celebrity in every sense of the word. She encourages everyone to visit the USAID website.
