Comedian Dave Chappelle denying reports he will return to TV?

[Jun. 16]

Celebrity Stoner Dave Chappelle who famously walked away from his hit television show on Comedy Central is denying a June 15th media news report that claimed the star celeb is planning to make a comeback career move with a return to television. The online gossip tabloid called, “The Daily wrote the former Comedy Central star was plotting to reboot his TV career by making a deal with a subscription service like Hulu or Netflix that would allow him a strong amount of creative control…” shared EW — a leading entertainment news journal. Their reporters contacted Dave Chappelle’s PR people to verify the breaking news report and got a disappointing laugh. “Absolutely untrue,” was the official word from Chappelle’s rep Carla Sims. Her denial of the rumors famous Dave — the conspicuously pro-marijuana activist — came circa June 16. More happy news about the actor and comic was that despite the fact that there will likely not be another new Chapelle show series or episode airing on Comedy Central any time soon was that Chappelle will continue to do live stand up comedy.

Mashable accidentally helped spread the false rumors about Dave Chappelle making a TV comeback when they jumped the gun, excited that the funny actor we loved in the movies Undercover Brother, Robin Hood: Men In Tights, and Half Baked when they wrote about his history. They shared:

Dave Chappelle left many a fan out in the cold when he disappeared from the world of TV comedy in 2005, ducking out of “Chappelle’s Show” in its third season.

Now, it looks like he’ll be coming back, on the web. The Daily is reporting that Chappelle is concocting a new TV show that would air via a paid subscription service like Netflix, Hulu or Sony’s Crackle. The trio are now competing for Chappelle’s affections.

Even though Dave won’t be back on TV — at least in the immediate future — at least being able to take a road trip to see him live is a great consolation prize for fans motivated to get their butts off the couch to go see him.

GREEN CELEBRITY STATS: DAVE CHAPPELLE

Actor and funny comedian Dave Chappelle has had his share of emotional and psychological battles due to drug use and rumored drug addiction. His decision to walk away from Hollywood was surely a tough one. but nowadays Dave Chappelle is taking time to tone down his celebrity lifestyle and focus on being a parent to his new baby daughter. While advocating for the use of medical marijuana for medicinal purposes, Dave took the high life a little too far. His resulting career crash and slow recovery allows him to be a public figure who has both hit bottom and bounced back from drug addiction, simplifying his life overall. See a funny video of Dave Chappelle raising money for charity to help Earthquake victims and help Haiti [adult content theme warning.] The ultimate thing that made Hollywood moguls think Dave Chappelle was mentally unstable was his demand half the proceeds of the sale of any DVDs of his show be donated to charity. We applaud him for that — and hope someday the television networks bring him back and donate or match money he raises to his favorite charities!
