Demi Lovato drug confession in magazine no shock to celeb friends

Star celebs with some very big names are going on record to support Disney princess and celebrity teen Demi Lovato. The actress and singer has been opening up about her crazy life and lifestyle of recent years and has made some extremely candid declarations. Claiming she is bi-polar and has an eating disorder (which she admitted in 2011) was nothing — she’s starting out2012 by having a frank discussion with teens about her own drug use, physical and emotional abuse, and masochistic behaviors. Talk about your surprising teen celebrity scandal!

Who is Demi LovatoDisney princess Demi Lovato, pop rocker and former star of Disney Channel’s hot television show Sonny with a Chance, recently opened up to Seventeen magazine about alcohol and drug abuse and her road to recovery. The Disney princess, who left the network to deal with issues of bulimia and cutting, admitted to “self-medicating” with alcohol and other drugs, in an attempt to numb her personal pains.

And she didn’t go it alone — none of her celebrity friends seemed to find her dramatic confession about drug use and abuse shocking.

For their loyalty in the strange Hollywood world of social circles, she only had kind things to say about besties Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus.

She said those two will always be her friends because she never fights with Selena and because Miley is just as strong-headed as she is. She also has thanked Kim Kardashian for her help in getting Demi Lovato through some time in a rehab center, said E! Online.

And the Camp Rock star has reason to feel the sting of stress. The famous actress and green celebrity singer has her work projects to keep her busy (even co-hosting MTV’s New Year’s Eve show with Selena). But she also has personal projects on the side, supporting humanitarian causes like Kids Wish Network, the Red Cross, and Stand Up to Cancer. It’s a lot to keep up with for such a young star celeb.

But she also has inspired and encouraged friends and fans alike with her commitment to leaving drugs and alcohol behind. Kim Kardashian, who missed Selena’s luncheon with the magazine, has called the Disney princess an inspiration and wrapped up by saying, “I am looking forward to seeing you grow both personally even more and to create many more unforgettable memories together.”

Selena Gomez, who Lovato hung out with on New Years Eve 2011 in New York City, likewise sent her love. “You have courage—courage to want to change to be better for yourself. The amount of respect I have for you is indescribable. You have gone through one of the hardest chapters in your life and I praise you for wanting to share that journey and walk away from it all as a better person.”

On her new found sobriety, she tells Seventeen:

“Now on Friday nights, if I want to go hang out with friends, I go hang out with friends. If I want to stay in and be in the hot tub and have people over to watch movies, I do that. I have more fun doing that than I did making the stupid decisions that I did back in the day.”

And, like star celeb pop rocker Justin Bieber, she credits God for the strength. But not without a hint of concern at the direction. She multi-posted on Twitter, reported The Hollywood Gossip:

“Sometimes it seems like God just keeps throwing crap my way and I get SO angry with him… But there’s never a doubt in my mind He’s gonna pull me through it all. I know you’re there God. But umm… Really dude? He never fails to show me He’s by my side though. Even in the tough times. #Godstuff”

So kudos to Demi Lovato for opening up and making a New Year’s resolution to get better, no matter what it takes. We’re certain that she can handle whatever life throws at her, and she is undoubtedly inspiring friends and fans to do likewise.

And before you are too critical of the celebrity teen, know that while the subjects she is talking about are controversial, she is using the free press to help put a green spotlight on humanitarian needs.

Fox News reports:

Demi Lovato has begun the New Year focusing on her philanthropy.

The “Skyscraper” star’s latest Public Service Announcement (PSA) focuses on the homelessness issue among teens in the United States.

“All teens go through hard times,” Lovato says at the beginning of the commercial. “But, did you know that 2 million teens have nowhere to go at night?”

According to the major media news outlet, Demi Lovato was nominated as one of the most involved celebrities of 2011 on DoSomething.org’s website. They further informed their readers that the celebrity teen, “urges teens to get involved with the organization’s “Teen for Jeans” campaign…”, a group that helps arrange clothing donations for impoverished kids in need.
