Royal Wedding Trivia: Horse and rider doing well after OOPS parade fall?

Royal Wedding Trivia!

Horse and rider both doing well after unexpected and odd parade route fall?

[May 3]

What good is a months-anticipated Royal Wedding without at least one big public gaffe? In 1837, the Archbishop of Canterbury dropped Queen Victoria’s Orb and put the coronation ring on the wrong finger of William IV. Now famously captured in the Oscar-winning film The King’s Speech, George VI hired a speech therapist to ensure he wouldn’t slip up during his coronation oath radio broadcast. Even Charles and Diana had some royal wedding vow flubs. And on April 29, 2011, a horse following Prince William and Kate Middleton, now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, bucked its rider and bolted down Whitehall, according to ABC reports.

Unlike other royal wedding mishaps, the runaway horse escapade quickly was captured on camera and film, and the internet has made sure the news is neither missed nor forgotten. The rider tried to pull the horse, one of Prince Harry’s Blues and Royals, to the side after it stumbled, but the horse was too strong and continued to gallop frantically down Whitehall. Kate Middleton blanched (as she’s allergic to horses) but Prince William calmly reassured her as the horse overtook their carriage on its way — to where else — home to the Horse Guards’ Barracks further up Whitehall, according to The Daily Mail.

Neither the rider nor the horse was injured. Police warned spectators to cover their faces with their arms in case the horse decided to stampede into the crowd, but luckily nothing more happened than a simple gallop down the street for the frightened animal.

Did Steve Carell quit The Office for new movie roles?

[May 3]

Comedian and actor Steve Carell, famous for his role as a middle manager in The Office and often called the greatest boss ever, aired his final appearance in his final episode of the show April 28, 2011. He has received five Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe trophy for his role in the show. The Hollywood gossip about his motivation to quit The Office appears to be true. He is leaving television to focus on his new movie career.

Says co-star Rainn Wilson, as reported by Entertainment Weekly:

“Actually, the last day of shooting with Steve was more intense than I anticipated it would be,” Wilson continued. “There actually wasn’t a dry eye in the house. It was really sad. It was very difficult to make comedy when there was a heaviness hanging over the proceedings. It’s a great episode. Steve is magnificent in it. Maybe he’ll finally win that Emmy he has deserved for like seven years.”

Steve Carell felt the loss too, as he explained to Ellen on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, according to a report from Access Hollywood. He said he’d known for a year that he’d be leaving the cast, and that he thought he was emotionally prepared, but he said he didn’t know just how unprepared he would be for the bittersweet departure. And he’s admitted that he’s getting lazy now with little to do.

Did Chuck Lorre really call Charlie Sheen a monkey?

[May 3]

Star celeb Charlie Sheen and television exec Chuck Lorre are still at it, despite a relatively quiet couple of weeks for Sheen (except for his Violent Torpedo of Not Winning on tour and in attempting to get custody of his kids even though soon-to-be-ex Brooke Mueller failed her mandatory drug test). Last week, Lorre wrote a vanity card which appeared after Big Bang Theory, in short lamenting his troubles with an actor who was “impossible to work with,” “increasingly erratic,” and “a heroin addict,” according to Entertainment Weekly. Guess who.

Nope, it wasn’t Charlie Sheen he was referring to (supposedly); it was a monkey on Big Bang Theory.

Right. Everyone believes you, Chuck. After all the names Charlie Sheen has called Chuck Lorre, it’s hard to believe that the latest vanity card from Chuck Lorre Productions wasn’t a shot at his nemesis, Sheen. But he probably deserves to get back at the troubled actor after all the drama directed at him this year.
