Wrestler Macho Man Randy Savage in freak car accident?

[May 20]

Wrestling star celeb Randy Poffo (a.k.a. Randy Macho Man Savage) was killed in a car accident Friday, May 20, 2011. The wrestling star reportedly had a heart attack while he was driving in Tampa. He crossed several lanes of oncoming traffic before hitting a tree head-on. His wife, who he married last year, suffered minor injuries and is expected to recover. Both Savage and his wife were wearing their seat belts and reports say alcohol is unlikely to have been involved, reports Yahoo! News.

The star celeb wrestler, who was a big hit and had a couple of wrestling titles in the early days of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now known as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), was 58 at the time of his death. His titles preceded those of fellow star celeb wrestler Hulk Hogan, who ultimately ousted Savage as a title holder.

Randy “Macho Man” Savage was well known for his catch phrase, “Oh yeah!” in the ring. Equally he was known as the front man for the Slim Jim line of beef snacks, the television commercials for which featured Randy Savage in his characteristically over-the-top costumes performing wild stunts typical of the star celeb while shouting, “Snap into a Slim Jim!” Savage also starred in the 2002 film Spiderman.

Randy Savage will be sorely missed by family and former wrestling stars alike.

DWTS 2011: Hines and Kym make finals, plan half time show for freestyle dance?

DWTS 2011!

Hines and Kym going to the finals to dance freestyle half time show?

[May 17]

It is OFFICIAL. Hines Ward and Kym Johnson are going to the finals to compete in the freestyle round. The celebrity couple was NOT voted off. After a double perfect score on Monday May 16th (following Kym Johnson’s neck injury on Friday the 13th), the Dancing With The Stars audience was really wowed. Will Hines Ward be able to beat Chelsea Kane to win the Mirror Ball Trophy? The NFL player certainly hopes so. The only real obstacle to him defeating her at this stage of the game is that the audience demographic voting for her is much younger and more apt to use their cel phones to vote. However, because he is a NFL football player and her fans are likely to be up past their bedtime to watch the show, coming into the finals round the voting could help sway the judges either way to vote.

During the elimination round at semi finals, show host Tom Bergeron asked Hines Ward and Kym Johnson to share secrets about what they would dance to in their freestyle if they were kept on to dance in the finals by the American votes. Hines Ward revealed that after all the football games he had played over the years, he had never actually seen the halftime shows. To that end, the green celebrity who has come so far off the football field on the dance floor says he wants to BE the show.

Tom Bergeron laughed and said he never really thought about the fact that the players at football games miss all those live performance half time shows and gave a hearty chuckle and wished Hines and Kym well.

The celebrity couple Hines and Kym were the first ones told they were safe. The dance pair received two perfect scores for the Argentine Tango and the salsa performed last night’s week nine performance, but lost the instant dance round.

Evan Longoria baseball catch new chivalry commercial for Gillette or viral video magic moment?

[May 17]

One of the Most Shared and top Trending videos on Youtube May 16th was a video clip of Tampa Bay Ray baseball player Evan Longoria playing hero as a celebrity athlete playing the field. In a surely scripted move, Evan Longoria (not to be confused with Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, ex-wife of NBA star Tony Parker — there is no relation) appears to save an on-field female sports reporter from certain injury by catching a line drive with his bare hands just above her threatened head. The now viral video started drawing an online audience late last week, but really took off like wildfire over the weekend when YouTube reports it drew over half a million views. But what was the origin of the video? Could it be a brand promotion stunt where a big name corporation funded to film it and then distributed the footage to make their celebrity athlete look like a real life super hero? YouTube analysts believe so.
