Hines Ward nabbed and cuffed at gunpoint by LAPD a true rumor?

[May 7]

Hines Ward, former NFL star and one of the top contenders on the 2011 season of Dancing with the Stars was nabbed by cops while filling up at a gas station in Studio City, CA, according to TMZ. Cops had their guns drawn as they approached the vehicle being driven by a female, who was ordered out of the car and made to lie face down on the pavement.

Hines Ward then was ordered out of the car. Ward was cooperative, say police, and, following questioning, learned that the car had been reported stolen. The cops continued their search, guns still drawn, as they investigated the passenger side, only to discover no one else was in the car, before they put their weapons away. It all turned out to be a mistake, though. The cops apparently had an outdated report of a stolen vehicle that matched the description of the car driven by the female driver. Both Ward and the female driver were released without further incident.

Given the notoriety of some of LAPD’s officers, especially with the history of the LA riots and the Rodney King incident, is Hines Ward upset about the incident? No, he says. “The police were just doing their job. Apologies were made, and it’s now in the past. Moving forward,” he said. What a classy guy. No wonder he’s doing so well on Dancing with the Stars this season.

Star celeb Hines Ward is paired with dancing pro Kym Johnson on Dancing with the Stars. Both dancers have been doing exceptionally well this season, getting consistently high marks from the judges.

Miley Cyrus song Party In The USA new Osama bin Laden celebrity death anthem?

[May 7]

Add to the list of the accomplish for Miley Cyrus the title of Osama bin Laden killer. At least that’s what some fans are suggesting after hearing the teen star celeb singer’s hit, Party in the USA. There’s a Facebook fan page with over 14,000 likes recommending the hit song to be the theme song for Osama bin Laden’s funeral, according to website Zimbio.

Columbian Missourian has reported on student celebrations at Missouri University:

Soon after [Osama bin Laden’s death], students started celebrating all across campus, from outside Ellis Library to Greektown. Students in Johnston Hall cheered out windows at people passing below on Rollins Street, where cars packed with cheering students rolled by — more than one of them playing Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” from their windows.

Miley herself hasn’t had anything to say about the phenomenon. Certainly she didn’t intend for the summer pop song to be associated with the death of the world’s most notorious terrorist. But fans across the country have adapted the song to be the de facto theme song for the funeral of Osama bin Laden.

The YouTube page for the song has been flooded with Osama bin Laden comments, ranging from “Miley Rocks!!” to “Miley killed Osama!” Another was a bit more realistic, although one could detect the excitement in the air surrounding the pop song. “LIKE THIS COMMENT IF WATCHING THIS VIDEO IS LITERALLY THE FIRST THING YOU DID AFTER YOU LEARNED OSAMA WAS DEAD,” one poster wrote.

Failed Atlas Shrugged movie producer threatens to pull a John Galt?

[May 5]

The new Atlas Shrugged movie based on the best-selling Ayn Rand novel of the same name is out. Oh, did you miss it? The movie that was promised to be a blockbuster multi-part movie series of epic proportions is, in Hollywood terms, a total flop. It’s been out three weeks and has barely earned just over $450k. That’s not much money for a film about the glorious pursuit of capitalism as a grand ideal. Whats more, the producer of the film — who actually opted to turn away star celebs like Angelina Jolie who was at one point interested in playing the Dagney Taggert female heroine lead in favor of casting relative unknowns to play the leads for cheap — is so mad no one is coming to see his new movie that he is threatening to walk out on Hollywood and refuse to make the summary sequels. He fancies himself a real life John Galt character. Who is John Galt? To answer that question (if you don’t already know) you will have to do some mighty serious reading, as the Ayn Rand novel is one of the thickest [and best] books filled with deep and meaningful dialogue you may ever read. And, without the sequels finished, you can’t cheat by watching the 21st century Atlas Shrugged movie series to solve the mystery.
