Did Steve Carell quit The Office for new movie roles?

[May 3]

Comedian and actor Steve Carell, famous for his role as a middle manager in The Office and often called the greatest boss ever, aired his final appearance in his final episode of the show April 28, 2011. He has received five Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe trophy for his role in the show. The Hollywood gossip about his motivation to quit The Office appears to be true. He is leaving television to focus on his new movie career.

Says co-star Rainn Wilson, as reported by Entertainment Weekly:

“Actually, the last day of shooting with Steve was more intense than I anticipated it would be,” Wilson continued. “There actually wasn’t a dry eye in the house. It was really sad. It was very difficult to make comedy when there was a heaviness hanging over the proceedings. It’s a great episode. Steve is magnificent in it. Maybe he’ll finally win that Emmy he has deserved for like seven years.”

Steve Carell felt the loss too, as he explained to Ellen on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, according to a report from Access Hollywood. He said he’d known for a year that he’d be leaving the cast, and that he thought he was emotionally prepared, but he said he didn’t know just how unprepared he would be for the bittersweet departure. And he’s admitted that he’s getting lazy now with little to do.

Celebrity Scandal: Mike Tyson tattoo artist suing over Hangover 2 satire

Mike Tyson tattoo artist suing Hangover 2 producers?

[Apr. 30]

Artist S. Victor Whitmill, the creator and designer of former heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson’s facial tattoo, is suing Warner Bros. over a similar tattoo design planted on actor Ed Helms’ face in the upcoming movie Hangover 2. In the suit, Whitmill seeks an unspecified amount in damages and seeks also an injunction to block the opening of Hangover 2 over Memorial Day weekend.

Whitmill calls the tattoo design “one of the most distinctive tattoos in the nation,” according to Reuters:

“When Mr. Whitmill created the Original Tattoo, Mr Tyson agreed that Mr. Whitmill would own the artwork and thus, the copyright in the Original Tattoo,” argues the complaint, filed Thursday in federal court in Missouri.

But there is a catch. Mike Tyson appeared in the original Hangover film, and it remains to be seen if the tattoo design (which is not exact) is fair use as a parody, given Tyson’s multiple appearances in the first film. Whitmill has sent pictures of him doing the work on Tyson’s face along with documentation with Tyson’s signature that show Whitmill does in fact own the copyright to the tattoo. But Whitmill didn’t ask for compensation when Tyson appeared in the first Hangover film, so what’s the difference now, even if he owns the copyright?

Warner Bros. has declined to comment, although Warner Bros. did in the past pay out a hefty sum to release The Dukes of Hazzard, when a judge issued an injunction just weeks before, regarding the authorship of the source material involved. Will the same thing happen to Hangover 2?

Celebrity Divorce: Olivia Wilde house no longer her celebrity home?

Celebrity Divorce!

Soon to be single actress and swimsuit model Olivia Wilde moves out of marital home in Venice, California?

[Apr. 26]

Television stars and movie stars often keep celebrity homes in California where they can live and work. But what happens when celebrity couples who live together out west in Tinseltown divorce? Eventually, they move out of course.

House actress Olivia Wilde has allegedly been playing house with her husband even though she filed for divorce back on March 11 of 2011. The Tron movie starlet and gorgeous model (who is as much brains as hot bod health and fitness icon) needed a place to stay and Venice, California was the place she called home with husband Tai Ruspoli — until now.

The website RumorFix claims, “the brunette beauty, who is divorcing husband Tao Ruspoli for irreconcilable differences, has moved out of their Venice, California home.”

Olivia Wilde, the actress who plays the bisexual character Thirteen on House was married for eight years and the couple did not seem to have any big drama in the press to show theirs was anything other than a happy home. The celebrity gossip website that verifies truth and rumor reports in entertainment journals reports the “hot in Hollywood” actress has moved completely across town and now is living in the trendy, up and coming Silverlake area.

We bet the swimsuit model is increasing the property values there for sure. Wonder if her new place has a pool?

The more important question is, however, why she and Tao elected to file for divorce.

To date, neither side has voiced any real explanation of how or why love went wrong for the pair — but inside sources speculate that as Olivia Wilde became more wild in her photo shoots and also made her on screen debut in Tron, the 3D picture sequel with actor Jeff Bridges, that it became clear the actress had outgrown her marriage — and he, underwhelming compared to her despite his own fame — may have grown increasingly jealous.

Such is the way of too many Hollywood marriages.

We wish the celebrity couple well as they learn to live life as single people — a task that is always challenging at best, if not downright difficult.
