George Clooney film genre Comedy-Drama winning big awards in Hollywood

Famous Hollywood actor George Clooney won the 2012 Critics Choice Award for Best Actor Thursday night for his performance as dad Matt King, a man simply trying to keep his family together while his cheating wife was in a coma. His movie The Descendants (according to the Toronto Sun) was billed as a ‘Comedy-Drama’ — a new film genre the actor seems to be successfully carving out in the movie industry despite the idea creating copious eye-rolling from critics initially. Pet friendly celebrity senior Betty White is a national treasure. So is the company Betty Crocker, the group that is most famous for making cake mix. Both turn 90 years old in 2012 and are celebrating being a part of American life and culture for nearly 100 years together. To honor them both, “Betty White’s 90th Birthday: A Tribute To America’s Golden Girl” will air on January 16th, the day before her actual birthday. The show starts at 8 p.m. EST.
