Eliza Dushku hunting for Bansky street art in LA?

[Mar. 26]

Eliza Dushku, best known for her roles as Faith on the televisions series Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and the spin-off Angel has recently mentioned a fascination with street art, according to her Twitter feed. She also played the role of the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis in the 1992 film True Lies. She recently asked in a Twitter comment to @JLeeCurtis, “is it really u mama?!” which appears to be a reference to her role in the film from her own verified celebrity Twitter account @elizadushku.

But green celebrity Eliza Dushku has got her hackles up over street art, maybe because of a number of people protesting a Los Angeles Urban Outfitter’s plan to paint over a mural by Bansky, an anonymous British graffiti artist and green celebrity, and producer of the world’s most famous street art. Unsure which particular piece Dushku may be referring to, fellow Tweeters have been offering suggestions for more street art to check out around L.A.

The green celebrity is well-known for her humanitarian work. The actress has launched a campaign titled 30/30/30, in which she hopes to raise $30,000 for THARCE-Gulu by her 30th birthday on December 30, according to Look to the Stars website. The organization aims to help Ugandan child soldiers heal from war enslavement and trauma. She also donates to a boys’ camp and to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Bansky, as the green celebrity street artist is known, is no less a humanitarian. He is a political activist, artist, environmentalist, and documentary filmmaker. He recently was nominated in January 2011 for an Academy Award for Best Documentary, having released Exit Through the Gift Shop at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010. TMZ reports Bansky took credit for inserting Mickey Mouse groping a scantily clad lady as street art on a billboard in L.A. in February, sometime overnight. Eliza Dushku might want to check that one out.

Bansky, on his website, notes:

You’re welcome to download whatever you wish from this site for
personal use. However, making your own art or merchandise and
passing it off as ‘official’ or authentic Banksy artwork is bad and
very wrong.

Banksy neither produces or profits from the sale of greeting cards,
mugs or photo canvases of his work. He is not represented by any
of the commercial galleries that sell his paintings second hand and
cannot be found on facebook/twitter/myspace etc.

We think it’s pretty cool that green celebrities like Eliza Dushku and Bansky are giving away their time and money to celebrate human dignity and the arts. It’s exactly what being green is all about. We hope you find what you’re looking for there in L.A., Eliza. We’ll be keeping our eyes out as well.
