Marijuana news reports and rumors surface that Justin Timberlake, like Cameron Diaz and Snoop Dogg, is perpetually baked?
[Jun. 14]
Justin Timberlake might have been a Mousketeer and a pop star in the boy band N’Sync but he certainly has never been a goodie two shoes. Timberlake shared news with Playboy magazine in a June 2011 interview that the talented singer might be obsessed with music but he is not even considering writing news songs for an album this year. He further told Vanity Fair magazine that his seemingly favorite pastime is smoking marijuana, claiming it helps him relax and shut his brain off from thoughts and worry about the music industry and his new career acting as a movie star in hit films like The Social Network and Bad Teacher. Marijuana news and Justin Timberlake don’t seem like phrases that should go together — considering his remarkable success keeping his own reputation squeaky clean. Even though Justin Timberlake started out early in life acting like a Playboy and dating his pick of celebrity honeys like singer Britney Spears, actress Cameron Diaz, and most recently movie star Jessica Biel, he was always the one who seemed to be the most straight-laced.
Since the Facebook film The Social Network came out, the question of whether or not green celebrity Justin Timberlake smokes pot started to swirl. Why now? Most likely because his ex-girlfriend Cameron Diaz has become a more outspoken advocate for smoking marijuana and to legalize pot. The timing of issues — along with the failure of Prop 9 to legalize the sale of marijuana in the great state of California back in November of 2010 — brought the question to a head and now Timberlake has conclusively answered.
Thank you, Hugh Hefner.
Born Justin Randall Timberlake on January 31st, 1981 in Memphis, Tennessee the sophisticated Southern boy without a hint of twang sang music that was enjoyed by pretty much everybody. He started perfroming at age 11 when he made his first national appearance with Ed McMahon on the show Star Search as a child contestant. From there he became a full-fledged child star thanks to his role on the Mickey Mouse Club.
Not going the way of his early Southern girl love Britney Spears (who essentially was accused of going crazy after shaving her head and losing her children to her ex Kevin Federline in the years following her break up with Timberlake), Justin opted to date older actress Cameron Diaz rather than to shack up and have kids early.
The celebrity scandal that plagued Justin Timberlake and helped make the phrase “wardrobe malfunction” part of the national vernacular happened when he perfromed live with pop music singer Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl on February 1st, 2004. The N Sync star was immortalized in the Nipplegate scandal when he pulled at her clothes in a choreographed dance scene and her nipple was accidentally was shown on national TV.
Since that time, the music industry has forgiven his wrong-place-at-the-wrong-time incident, and he has participated in recording multiple best-selling songs and albums both alone and with other star celebrities.
Pop star entertainment news about Justin Timberlake is a new celebrity stoner even made mainstream media news.
Huffington Post shared news of the celebrity pot smoker confession in a review that detailed Justin Timberlake celebrity interview quotes published in Vanity Fair magazine, writing:
Now 30 years old, Timberlake likes to take time to relax. Which includes golfing and more action-packed sports. And, well, smoking marijuana.
“Absolutely,” he answers when asked if he’s a pot smoker. “The only thing pot does for me is it gets me to stop thinking. Sometimes I have a brain that needs to be turned off. Some people are just better high.”
Justin Timberlake’s ex-girlfriend Cameron Diaz is also a celebrity stoner who confesses that in high school she used to buy marijuana from another high times celebrity — Snoop Dogg (who most people know is a rap music star thanks to cable television channels like MTV and VH1.
Was Cameron Diaz (playing cougar) the bad influence — or BAD TEACHER — who got Justin Timberlake hooked on the idea that smoking marijuana for recreational and medicinal use was a good thing?
We doubt it — but either way, we tend to agree with Timberlake here at GCN.
Smoking marijuana to relax is a healthy natural alternative to having a few alcoholic drinks, and Justin is one shining Hollywood example that reefer madness does not affect all the pot smoking celebrities. The most interesting part of the celebrity interviews was that at no time did Timberlake seem to imply that his success as a creative artist was helped along by the mind altering drug. Instead, he boasted pot was what helped him turn his creative genius off so he could take a mental vacation from the stress of it all.
Bad Teacher is set to hit movie theaters June 24th. Watch the Bad Teacher movie trailer here.
