Britney Spears has the hots for green celebrity Ryan Gosseling?

Britney Spears likes Ryan Gosseling. As in really likes him. As in loves his movies and thinks he’s a little hottie. While she is more famous for her bad wardrobe choices that have inspired horrific ultra-low-rise jeans fashion trend, losing her kids in a custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, and shaving her head, he’s actually been making great movies and doing the eco-friendly thing. Using his star power wisely seems to come naturally to him.

Who is Ryan GosselingTalk about your strange celebrity crush. Pop music singer Britney Spears apparently has a little girl crush on green celebrity actor and GQ cover model Ryan Gosseling. The George Clooney movie Ides of March might not have gotten big box office ticket sales, but it certainly got the young gent noticed as a new heart-throb by many big names in Hollywood. But his connection to Spears did not start because of the film. Actually, he and Brit were co-stars on the Mickey Mouse Club… that’s why the Disney Princess knows about him and seems to love him.

Gosseling knows Spears from way back in the day — when he, the pop music princess, and Justin Timberlake used to sing, dance, and act together as kids. All part of the Mickey Mouse Club show back in the 1990s, these Gen Y stars shined from a young age. And, while Timberlake rose to become one of the best liked actors and performing artists in Hollywood, Gosseling watched Britney’s career rise as a singer — then fall as her personal world fell apart.

While she’s very rich and famous and sells out concert halls world-wide (still), her name [in many social circles] has become a joke. But Gosseling — now there’s a cool cat who is starting to be taken very seriously (both as an actor and as a green celebrity).

When Brit told USA today, “I’m a huge fan [of Ryan Gosseling]; I think he’s amazing. I think he’s a wonderful little actor…” and “He definitely has that ‘something’ on film, on camera, which is really cool. So I’m very happy for him…” she actually gave him a huge free press bump among her fans. While she was actually referring to his drive as an actor and hoping people will start to recognize him on-screen, making sure his becomes a household name that is well-recognized for who he is off camera is equally important.

The brooding Scorpio from Ontario [Canada] was born November 12th, 1980. His mother elected to homeschool him until such a time he could enter fine arts and vocational programs. He beat out a rumored 17,000 other actors to get the part on The All New Mickey Mouse Club. Like many other home school kids, Gosseling was raised to be a smart, personable, reflective, and socially conscious adult.

Like Justin Timberlake (who he lived with at the Timberlake family home while filming the MMC), Gosseling developed a strong work ethic and has kept his head together despite the pressures of being a celebrity kid. He’s resisted peer pressure to become a party boy and has dedicated enormous time to develop himself as an individual through dedication to his work.

Gosseling’s first critically acclaimed film most fans remember was The Notebook [back in 2004] — even though he’d also done a well-respected string of performances in other movies and television shows. [Remember Young Hercules, anyone?]

Shortly thereafter, he was voted one of People magazine’s 50 Hottest Bachelors.

Pet-friendly, he has a dog named George. His mother also pulled him out of elementary school because he was sensitive to being bullied by other students — a smart move for any parent to do who recognizes that a child’s world should never revolve around learning to tolerate abuse, derision, or that accepting a pattern of domestic violence or workplace harassment should be the rule or norm.

Gosseling, who has given his celebrity endorsement to pet-friendly organizations like PETA, was a natural choice for George Clooney to cast in the Ides of March. Both men are philanthropists, both own eco-friendly cars, they seems to share an affable sense of humor and have a certain j-ne-sais-quois lightness about them. Despite their age difference, something equally resonates and shines about them. They are both true stars.

But hearing his name connected with Britney Spears surprises most who are not familiar with his work history or ties with the Disney Channel.

The Notebook star who has now been noticed for his work in Clooney’s political drama is finally starting to have his name and face be recognized by folks in the typical American household thanks to his acting (which got him noticed by well-educated people who love intelligent films) and — oddly enough — the Britney Spears fan base now.
