Would Hugh Grant or Ashton Kutcher make a better replacement for funny actor Charlie Sheen on hit sitcom Two And A Half Men?
[May 12]
Last night, news sources revealed that actor Hugh Grant was in the running to replace Charlie Sheen on the hit television series Two And A Half Men, but on May 12th TMZ says NAH-UH. Green celebrity sidekick to actress Demi Moore Ashton Kutcher might be the next generously endowed Hollywood heart-throb to bring ample character to the show. So what is true — that Hugh Grant turned down a million dollars an episode to play a depraved character on the television series that appeals to the randy nature and raunchy sense of humor in most? Or the claim that TMZ is making that Ashton Kutcher — who by the way made That 70s Show with actress Mila Kunis and movies like Dude, Where’s My Car legendary — wants to replace winning unemployed actor Charlie Sheen as the highest paid actor on television?
Considering the wild success the hit show has had as a rerun event since Charlie Sheen bottomed out then rebounded like a hooptie car hitting a pot hole, Chuck Lorre would be an idiot to cancel the show or hire an actor to replace him that is sub par.
With impressive movie star credentials, comedic talent galore, and a definite likable bad boy underscore to their charms, both Hugh Grant and Ashton Kutcher are the kind of boys you would like to take home to cuddle — even though you would have to make sure they did not woo your mom.
These two characters have as much or more off-screen charisma as they do on — without all the ridiculous Charlie Sheen sober or not drama.
Ashton Kutcher is a practical joker who loves an older broad. Marrying green celebrity Demi Moore solidified his chances of being a super star in Hollywood Social circles. Why? Because the former wife of actor Bruce Willis, celebrity mom, and talented actress knows how to stand by and behind her man to promote. The two hit the social media and red carpet scene with a colorful May – September romance, and have stayed together faithfully ever since despite Kutcher tweeting a picture of his wifey’s barely clad white bikini panty butt (which most wives would have killed him for doing) and rumors he had been unfaithful in 2010.
Hugh Grant is the former beau of super model actress Elizabeth Hurley who got in to trouble when he stopped and picked up a common — and very black — street walker years ago. How’d that go for him? Suffice it to say the Hollywood scandal never quite… blew over? But it did land him a role as the wicked paramour or actress Renee Zelwegger in the Bridget Jones Diary movie series, casting him out of the cookie cutter roles of soft skinned boy with limited body hair and big blue eyes and into naughty but adorable soul.
Both these guys count as two and a half men when it comes to having talent.
Now, the question remains — will Chuck Lorre let either one of these guys get in it to win it?
While actor Charlie Sheen continues to pine away for his old job as the highest paid television actor in Hollywood, it is unlikely that Lorre plans to re-hire him. Saving the series or dropping the concept (and firing all the other people on the show and who work on the production crew) is the number one topic of debate right now regarding the comedy series turned drama.
Hiring actors Hugh Grant or Ashton Kutcher could definitely save the series from John Cryer failure, but the clock ticks.
Who will be the winning ticket?
Not Sheen… but maybe a Hollywood movie star replacement.
