Hope Solo and Maks kicked off DWTS for bad attitudes?

Why was Hope Solo kicked off Dancing With The StarsDWTS 2011 Semi-Finals Round video clips shown on results night showed soccer star Hope Solo and dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy swearing and scoffing at the judges for giving them low scores. All season long, the dance practice videos they ran seemed to indicate he had been treating her badly.

Many tabloids reports and fans (this writer included) felt sorry for her and blamed her inability to dance on him. Now that she can dance far better than when she began, she’s angry at the judges for keeping her scores in the trash can. But seeing the footage of what her attitude toward the judges really was behind the scenes — as well as the explanation that her plastered smile was not shyness (but an angry and intimidating glare) — created a different image of the Olympic Gold Medalist. Could her own poor sportsmanship and bad attitude about being on the show have contributed to her downfall in the Season 13 competition?

At the very least, the films they showed left a bad impression of Hope and Maks. Not only would she make a poor ambassador for the show to win the Mirror Ball Trophy, his outburst on live television against judge Len Goodman several weeks ago, constant arguments with pet-friendly judge Carrie Anne Inaba, and his proclamation that DWTS was “[his] show” may send him back to work at his own dance studio full-time in the future. Why? Because people are tired of hearing the judges and Maks fight and sad to see any star paired with him suffer points penalties for his choreography.

Great dance pro or not, it does not look like he will ever help any of the star celebs win the competition. If he could not make it with past dance partner Erin Andrews (a sports reporter) or current dancer Hope Solo (a tremendous athlete and soccer player), perhaps it was high time he [more than she] was the one to be sent home. Seeing so much of their language bleeped, it was easy to understand how and why Rob Kardashian was the one who advanced to the finals, knocking Hope Solo out of the DWTS 2011 Finals.

And that’s a shame really — as it has really been a fight to the top between two celebrity couples (Ricki Lake and Derek Hough vs. JR Martinez and Karina Smirnoff) all season long. It would have been nice to see Hope (as a role model for young girls everywhere) give them all some competition while learning a bit more about being ladylike and polite while she was there.
