Ricky Martin getting married in New York City a gay marriage hoax?

Who is Ricky Martin and why is he famous? The super hot Latino pop music singer came out of the closet and fathered twins. News on the celebrity gossip circuit is that he is finally happy and wants to settle down with his partner permanently. A Latin newspaper claimed that Ricky and his boyfriend were planning to wed in New York City in January of 2012 now that the state of New York allows gay marriage. But was the tabloid news report correct? E! Online talked with the famous humanitarian and got the real news about the celebrity couple’s plans for the New Year in 2012.

Who is Ricky MartinHot Latino singer Ricky Martin has it all— good looks, tons of natural talent, sex appeal, and a super hot boyfriend to complete his picture perfect gay lifestyle. He is the father of two darling twins — twin boys. Now, rumor mills are reporting he’s going to make his life complete by marrying his lover Carlos Gonzalez Abella. But is the engagement news about the gay celebrity couple a true rumor? E! Online asked if the “Livin’ la Vida Loca” hit maker was really getting ready to say I do.

Sadly, the answer they got from the sexy pop star was not as scintillating as the fantasy dream wedding news. E! reveals:

As exciting as it may sound, Mr. Martin isn’t getting hitched.

“It is a completely incorrect report,” his rep tells me. “Ricky Martin has no set plans to marry.”

An unnamed source is quoted in the Spanish-language newspaper El Nuevo Dia that Martin and Abella’s big day would take place on Jan. 28 in New York City, where gay marriage is legal.

So much for the celebrity couples news that there was another GLBT marriage in the works! Martin has been in New York City prepping himself for his new role on Broadway. He’ll be appearing live on stage as the historical Ché Guevara says Fox News, a revival of the hit musical Evita (which was made into a movie musical that starred Antonio Banderas and Madonna back in the mid 90s).

On a happier note (than being bummed out to hear he has not decided to commit to his relationship legally yet), the otherwise religious traditionalist Ricky Martin is still the same loving and devoted father he has always been to his twins. Raising them with his partner, the kids are happy, healthy, and delightfully spoiled (not spoiled rotten).

Martin, who took years coming out of the closet, has not regretted his decision to come out as a “fortunate gay man” back in 2010. All the straight women in his fan base still think the world of him and though he is maturing away from his boyish good looks, he is still strikingly handsome. Not hiding the secret has also seemed to bring a certain peace to his life that (because of his religious values) in the past did not exist during the time he was in the boy band Menudo or in the years following when his solo career was peaking [when folks still thought he was straight and he made celebrity appearances his “girlfriends”].

As the pop music singer has matured, his social conscience has also developed.

He’s volunteered and helped raise money for Habitat For Humanity (which oddly enough was one of the big charity pet projects of Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich — who just got his proverbial ass handed to him last night when the results came in from the Iowa Caucus). [Gingrich holds a notoriously anti-gay marriage stance.]

Ricky Martin has also used his own star power wisely as a humanitarian — giving his celebrity endorsement to the American Foundation for AIDS Research and setting up his own charity called the Ricky Martin Foundation.

“I am not getting married, we are good how we are and we’ve been together for three years now,” he said about his relationship with fellow Puerto Rican Carlos González during a celebrity interview with the Mexican press. To that end, while some rumor mills reports claim that Ricky Martin simply has cold feet and has called off his wedding, anyone who thinks so is likely to be misguided. He may, out of respect for his church, never get married to a man — even if he does live a gay lifestyle that includes commitment.

Cheers to whatever his personal decision may be — as real fans and friends of the singer will always like and respect him whatever his sexual orientation or marital commitment. Ricky Martin turned 40 on December 24th, 2011.
